An Alaskan couple are under arrest after the wife allegedly stole a police cruiser with her handcuffed husband inside it.
Joshua Watford, 38, was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly
skipping his court-mandated classes after being convicted of driving
under the influence.
After he was put in the back of a patrol car, the arresting
officer was stopped by a passing motorist who struck up a conversation
with the officer, according to Newsday.
It was while the officer was distracted that 28-year-old Amber
Watford, Joshua's wife, allegedly got behind the wheel of the car and
drove off with her husband.
The vehicle was found abandoned an hour later with nothing missing, including the handcuffs that had been on Joshua's wrists.
As for the Watfords, they were located at a home in Wasilla on Thursday.
Both were taken into custody on suspicion of vehicle theft, as
well as other charges. Amber is free on $20,000 bail, but Joshua
remained in jail as of Friday.
They have not yet entered a plea.
