BENZEMA TELLS MADRID THAT HE WANTS TO LEAVE

Karim Benzema has told Real Madrid that he wants to join Arsenal and the Gunners will look to seal the deal today, as reported by the Metro. The Frenchman has been linked with a move to Emirates and on Wednesday, the Independent reported that the Gunners were preparing a late swoop for the world class France International.

The 27-year-old is Arsene Wenger’s number one target this summer, and Wenger is a long-term admirer of the striker and believes he needs a top level forward to win the premier league this new season.
However, Metro has now reported that the North London club will meet Madrid within 24 hours to seal a deal for Benzema. If Arsenal do indeed sign Benzema,, it would be a clear statement of intent from the Gunners and a major coup from Arsene Wenger and his club as they have faced criticism in recent years as to not having a truly world class Centre-forward.
Signing a player of the caliber of Benzema would certainly silence these critics as Benzema is a true world class forward Last term the 27-year-old scored 15 goals in 29 La liga matches- only Cristiano Ronaldo (48) scored more than him.
He is also an extremely creative Centre-forward, the France International created 44 chances last term and registered 10 assists. He had a chance conversion rate of 26.3% last term.
