Catching a hacker in the act is tricky business. In the movies, a hacking attempt is usually accompanied by flashy pop-up windows or signs of programs being remotely installed. The reality is that most hacking attempts are much more subtle, and can often be executed without the victim's knowledge. If you suspect that you are being subjected to a hacking attempt, you will need to work quickly in order to try to trace the hacker's IP address. An IP address is a numerical code assigned to every online computer that can be used to help identify the user.
